BJJ Competitions in France 2026-2027: The Calendar

Twenty-eight CFJJB dates published in one go, ADCC in Krakow next week and a confirmed No-Gi Worlds in Las Vegas: the 2026-2027 season is on. Here is the calendar of BJJ competitions in France, updated on 4 September 2026.

Looking for a BJJ competition in France this autumn? The French federation (CFJJB) has just released its 2026-2027 calendar, and it is packed: four Opens in October alone, a French Open moved to Marseille in November, the Nova GP back in Paris in February, then the French Cup, the national No-Gi and Kids championships, and the French Gi Championship closing the season on 12 June 2027. This page gathers every confirmed date, sorted by organiser and period, with the status displayed by each federation. It is updated every month.

CFJJB calendar 2026-2027: every date

The Confédération Française de Jiu-Jitsu Brésilien (CFJJB) is the backbone of BJJ competition in France, with around 540 affiliated clubs and more than 36,000 members. Its 2026-2027 season runs from October to June: regional Opens all autumn and winter, then the big national events from March onwards. Almost every Open offers Adult, Master and Kids divisions, in Gi and No-Gi; exceptions are flagged in the Formats column.

The status shown is the one displayed by the federation on the update date: “Confirmed” means date and venue are set, “TBC” means the event is scheduled but the federation may still adjust the date or venue. The CFJJB itself says more dates will be added soon: we will complete the table as they are announced.

Autumn 2026: October to December

Winter and spring 2027: January to June

Three things stand out. First, the French Open leaves spring and Orléans for Marseille on 21-22 November, making it the first major national event of the season. Second, the CFJJB groups its national championships in spring: Novices in Grenoble at the end of January, No-Gi and Kids in Paris on the same April weekend, then the French Gi Championship on 12 June 2027, currently scheduled on a single day rather than two as in 2026. Third, the Nova GP, the federation’s premium event, returns to Paris on 6 February 2027 in adult Gi format, and the BJJ Festival pairs up again with the French Cup in Verquin, as in 2026.

For the record, the 2025-2026 season ended with the French Gi Championship on 13-14 June in Paris, after a run of Opens from Saint-Denis to Saint-Raphaël via Grenoble, Marseille, Orléans, Biganos and Nice. All of those dates are now behind us.

Other BJJ competitions in France

Beyond the CFJJB, several organisers run competitions in France with no federation licence required: Grappling Industries, NAGA and Gi Nogi Challenge (GNC). Their formats vary and welcome every level, with dates published as they go rather than as a season calendar. Their first-half-of-2026 events (Grappling Industries in Paris and Bordeaux, NAGA in Bobigny, the GNC Paris tournaments and the Queens Tournament) have all taken place; as soon as their autumn and winter dates are out, we will add them here.

For a beginner, Grappling Industries events remain an excellent entry point: round-robin format (no single elimination), so several matches guaranteed even after a loss. It is the best way to get your feet wet without the pressure of one-and-done. On the GNC side, the highlights are the growing women-only events (THE QUEENS open mat, Queens Tournament) and the Kids tournaments. Keep an eye on their social media for the autumn schedule.

Which BJJ competition should you pick?

The right choice depends on your level and your goal. Beginners should aim for a round-robin format or the Novice championship; anyone chasing the national team has to go through the French Gi Championship. Here is a quick guide by profile, with this season’s dates.

Just starting out? Look at Grappling Industries (round-robin) or the CFJJB National Novice Championship on 30-31 January 2027 in Grenoble, reserved for white belts. The atmosphere is competitive but friendly. A regional Open near you, from October onwards, is also a good first step: belt and weight divisions guarantee opponents at your level.

Signing up your child? Almost every CFJJB Open has Kids divisions. Start with a regional Open (Antibes, Toulouse, Bourges, Nantes, Nice…) before aiming for the French Cup in March or the National Kids Championship on 10-11 April 2027 in Paris. Aiming for the French national team? The French Gi Championship on 12 June 2027 in Paris is the mandatory step: it is the competition used as the basis for selecting the CFJJB national team. The French Open in Marseille in November and the Nova GP in February are the two stages where you can get noticed beforehand.

The international calendar 2026-2027

These events do not take place in France but matter directly to the French community, whether for the national team athletes competing in them or for the fans following the circuit. The two first-half IBJJF Gi Grand Slams (Pan in Kissimmee, Worlds in Long Beach) are done; now comes the no-gi season.

ADCC 2026 in Krakow is the most anticipated grappling event of the year. ADCC’s return to Europe (the last one was in Finland in 2017) makes it far easier to attend from France, and the Tauron Arena promises a huge atmosphere. The professional championship runs on 12-13 September, preceded by the amateur championship on the 11th.

The IBJJF No-Gi Worlds will close the competitive year from 10 to 12 December 2026 in Las Vegas, a date now made official by the IBJJF. Before that, the Paris Fall Open IBJJF appears on the CFJJB calendar for 28-29 November, pending confirmation by the IBJJF: a chance to taste an international tournament without leaving France. UFC BJJ: a monthly card in Las Vegas

UFC has gone all in on grappling in 2026, with a UFC BJJ event roughly every month in Las Vegas, all streamed free and live on the UFC BJJ YouTube channel. How to register for a CFJJB competition

For CFJJB events, registration is done directly on cfjjb.com. You need to be a member of an affiliated club with a valid licence for the current season (41 euros for 2025-2026; the 2026-2027 fee will be announced by the federation). Then count 30 to 45 euros of entry fee for a regional Open, more for the national championships. Be warned: registration usually closes two to three weeks before the event, and the big events sell out before the deadline. Visiting from abroad? Your IBJJF-affiliated academy is not enough: the CFJJB circuit requires a CFJJB licence through a French club, whereas the IBJJF Paris Opens are open to everyone.

FAQ: BJJ competitions in France

What is the next CFJJB competition?

The CFJJB 2026-2027 season opens with the Île-de-France Regional Open on 3-4 October 2026 in Paris, followed by the Antibes Open on 17-18 October, then the Indian Ocean Open (24 October) and the Hauts-de-France Open (25 October). All four dates are confirmed by the federation.

When is the 2027 French BJJ Championship?

The CFJJB National Gi Championship is scheduled for 12 June 2027 in Paris, pending final confirmation by the federation. The National No-Gi and Kids Championships are planned for 10-11 April 2027, also in Paris, and the Novice Championship for 30-31 January 2027 in Grenoble.

Do you need a licence to compete in BJJ in France?

For CFJJB events (Opens, French Cup, national championships, Nova GP), yes: you need a valid CFJJB licence and membership of an affiliated club. Grappling Industries, NAGA and GNC competitions do not require a federation licence and are open to everyone, as are the IBJJF Paris Opens.

What is the best first competition for a beginner?
